Maximum Number of Storeys
Definition of Storey (Regulation 800.50(820)): A storey is a level of a building, other than a basement, located between any floor and the floor, ceiling, or roof immediately above it.
Note: All floors located above established grade are not limited by a restriction on the total number of storeys. Basements, as defined by Regulation 800.50(80), do not count as a storey under this restriction.
Maximum Number of Storeys (Regulation 10.20.40.10(3)):
- (3) Minimum Number of Storeys:
- (A) The maximum number of storeys allowed in a building on a lot in the RD zone is determined by the numerical value following the letters “ST” on the Height Overlay Map.
- (B) If there is no numerical value following the letters “ST” on the Height Overlay Map, the number of storeys is not limited by this regulation.
- (C) The permitted maximum number of storeys in regulation (A) does not apply to a duplex, triplex, or fourplex.
Tip:
- If a restriction on the number of storeys applies from a Chapter 900 exception, it continues to apply. The exception to restrictions on the number of storeys only applies to standards from the Height Overlay Map.
